Support and training to help people with visual impairment join the online world — in their own homes, across the boroughs in which we operate.
You may already have computer systems in place, and just need further support, or you may know nothing as yet about how to join the online world. Whatever your starting point, our IT trainer will meet you where you are.
Our IT trainer provides one-to-one support and training at home.
What you could learn
From a first device to confident everyday use.
You may want to learn how to use the talkback facilities on your mobile phone, or how to make use of AI apps for people with visual impairment. You may have Alexa or Siri installed at home, but not know how best to make use of this technology. Wherever you want to begin, here is some of what we can help with.
-
TalkBack & VoiceOver
Using the spoken-feedback facilities built into your mobile phone.
-
AI apps for visual impairment
Making the most of apps designed for people with sight loss.
-
Touch typing
Learning to type quickly and confidently without looking at the keys.
-
Email
Sending, receiving and managing email to stay in touch.
-
Searching the internet
Finding news, information and the things you need online.
-
Online shopping & banking
Managing your shopping and your money safely from home.
-
Smart speakers
Getting the best from Alexa or Siri already installed in your home.
-
Choosing the right device
Deciding whether a mobile phone, an iPad, a tablet or a computer best suits your needs.
Whatever your need, we will strive to help you.

The IT training has been absolutely brilliant in so many ways. I started losing sight over 30 years ago, and today I am practically blind. I need to learn many things now, especially with modern technology. I didn’t used to be able to read anything at all, but now with the training I am able to read the news, and search on the internet for many things.
