Helping people stay independent at home.

We help people who are blind or partially sighted to keep living independently in their own homes. When a referral comes in, our staff visit — often weekly or fortnightly at first — to understand what each person needs. They sign-post to local authority services, benefits and other support, and, wherever we can, match them with a trained volunteer who has the time to keep visiting regularly.

Volunteers help with the things sight loss makes hard, and with simple companionship. Many of our service users live alone, and isolation matters as much as the practical side. Sight loss can bring a loss of confidence — a regular friendly visit makes a real difference.

All our volunteers are DBS-checked.

Regular visits build long-running friendships.

The Support Worker is so helpful to me. It is wonderful to know that someone is coming to visit me on a specific day. She helps me with reading my mail, getting out of the house for some exercise, and anything else I may need.
